Donna Graham’s textured-acrylic paintings depicting Cajun experiences will be on display through Feb. 16 at Southdown Plantation, 1208 Museum Drive, Houma. Graham’s exhibit portrays various aspects of the Cajun lifestyle. The first series of paintings include a variety of southern-style architectural buildings and tombstones that are unique and originated in south Louisiana. These structures serve as a window into elements that depict Cajun life and experiences, such as music, seafood and art. The exhibit will also feature heavily textured paintings that showcase another Cajun way of life — fishing. Graham uses modeling paste, pebbles and sand to create a unique texture, along with rich, contrasting colors to make these bold and interesting paintings. The South Lafourche Public Library is offering homebound delivery of library materials. Any south Lafourche resident who will be temporarily homebound for a period of six weeks or longer can register with the South Lafourche Public Library’s Homebound Delivery service to receive library materials during that time. Residents can either arrange for a family member or friend to pick up their requested library materials at their nearest south Lafourche library branch or can arrange for home delivery of materials by the library, if needed. Officials with the South Lafourche Public Library is asking for help in establishing a proposed photo display honoring south Lafourche’s active service members. The library is seeking photos of active service members from all branches of the U.S. military, the reserves or the National Guard who are either former or current residents of the south Lafourche area. Service members or their family members can submit photos, which will be scanned and returned.
